ISPA members are strongly encouraged to participate in ISPA meetings throughout the Conference.  Such participation is essential to maintain the vitality and inclusiveness of the Association.  The most important event in the year for ISPA members is the General Assembly which takes place during the Annual Conference.  This is an unique opportunity for members to learn about current ISPA initiatives from the Executive Committee and other ISPA leaders and to become involved in future projects.  Committee Chairs and National Affiliate representatives report on their activities during the past year and share their vision for the future.  Members will also vote on the 2023 budget and prizes and awards will be presented.  We look forward to welcoming you at the General Assembly in Room Max Weber on Saturday July 09 from 18.00 to 20.00.

Please also participate in the various meetings of the ISPA Committees, Task Forces, and Interest Groups.  Details regarding these meetings can be found in the Programme section of the Conference website.  The Chairs of these groups will also circulate members with details.  A number of these meetings are open to non-members also.

  • ANASTASSIOS MATSOPOULOS
  • Thematic Sessions 1
  • Room SW.02.0025

"Strengthening Children through Parent Education and Family Resilience during Times of Crisis: Challenges, Opportunities and Enlightened Paths.

Activity Coordinator: Anastassios Matsopoulos, Ph.D., Director of School Psychology Research Unit, Department of Preschool Education, University of Crete & University of Crete Research Center (UCRC), Greece.

Discussant: Anthi Loutsiou, PsyD, Director of Clinical Training, Department of Psychology, University of Cyprus.

This roundtable discussion is organized by ISPA’s  “Parent Education and Family Resilience” Interest Group (PAR.E.FA.RE) Interest Group  and it is the annual meeting of the group open to ALL conference attendees. The PAR.E.FA.RE  was established in 2017 as  a forum that allows school psychologists and other related professionals, trainers, and researchers in the field of parent education and family resilience to share ideas about  leveraging empirically validated research and parent and family empowerment methods to benefit the development and learning of children around the world. More information about the Interest Group can be found on ISPA’s website at http://www.ispaweb.org/committees/parent-education-and-family-resilience/

One of the main objectives of the roundtable is to facilitate networking among participants with shared interests and the exchange of ideas, concerns, and strategies as they relate to strengthening children through parent education and family resilience during times of crisis, in line with the ISPA 2022 conference theme. The Chairs of PAR.E.FA.RE. will facilitate  a dialogue among participants regarding  the impact  of recent global crises (e.g. Covid-19 pandemic, war, and forced migration)  on children and their families in different parts of the world, and invite attendees to share examples and ideas of best practices from different countries and contexts, to strengthen children’s development and family resilience through education, research and collaboration with the family, school, and community.

The roundtable also aims to identify areas of need for further research, training and development in the domain of parent education and family resilience especially during times of crises."

Retirement Resource Group

  • Tracy Hobbs
  • Thematic Sessions 7
  • Room SW.02.27

The purpose of the Retirement Resource Group is to maintain communication and provide resources for members around issues of importance and/or interest to ISPA members who are already retired as well as those who are planning to retire within the next few years.  Our first meeting was held at the 2007 conference in Tampere and began with a discussion around this question: “What is life like after a career in school psychology?""  The exchange of ideas among colleagues is stimulating and helpful in providing each other with mutual support to prepare and reorganize this new phase of life.  The major themes of discussion have been:

  • conditions and feelings around the transition from our to retirement
  • new horizons in our professional field
  • engagement in voluntary work in educational, social and other fields
  • taking responsibility in our professional associations through ongoing involvement
  • new horizons and expertise beyond the limits of former professional life
  • priorities in personal development, family care and self-care

Attendees, please think ahead about which of these themes interests you, on which of these themes you'd like to exchange ideas with colleagues, or which of these themes has priority for you in connection with the challenges of our world situation.

Our meeting utilizes different formats:  a mix of sharing and interaction group along with a discussion of  committee activities. The meeting is open to all conference participants; guests are welcome!
